I can confirm that Shammond Williams is no longer an assistant at Western Kentucky. Great sources have told me that he will be replaced by Stetson assistant coach Nikita Johnson.
Williams, who played at North Carolina, had joined Rick Stansbury’s staff last summer after spending time as an assistant coach at both Tulane and Furman.
Johnson, a coaching veteran, had been on the Stetson staff for the past four seasons. He has also worked at LSU, Louisiana Tech, Louisiana-Lafayette, Murray State, Duquesne, Tennessee State, and New Orleans.
This is the second move on Stansbury’s WKU staff this off-season. Earlier in the spring, GA Ben Hansbrough was elevated to assistant coach replacing Quannas White who joined Kelvin Sampson at Houston.
