Western New England University Announces Staff Additions

Western New England University head men’s basketball coach Colin Tabb has announced the addition of Joseph Carty and Mike Duffy.

Carty a 2018 graduate of Bridgewater State University,  brings experience both on the court as a player and in individual skill development.  In his three seasons with the Bears, Carty had career averages of 13 points and 12 rebounds per game.  Carty captained the ’17-’18 squad to a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) title, eventually falling in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to nationally-ranked Williams College.  During his senior season, Carty ranked fifth nationally in rebounds per game, and seventh in double-doubles.  Carty graduated from Bridgewater State University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, with a double minor in Finance and Accounting.

Prior to his time at Bridgewater State, Carty graduated from the St. Andrew’s School in Barrington, Rhode Island, competing under legendary Coach Michael Hart in the AA class of the New England Prep School Athletic Council (NEPSAC).

Mike Duffy join the staff as a Graduate Assistant. Duffy worked as a Regional Scout for NetScouts Basketball, where he was responsible for live scouting NCAA Division 1 games and compiling reports on amateur players for use by international professional teams. He was also tasked with scouting international youth players to assist NCAA teams with their international recruiting process.

Additionally, Duffy spent two years as a Live Data Scout with Sportradar, the real-time statistics partner of the NBA, in which he attended NBA and WNBA games in the Northeast to track player statistics and shot locations.

As an undergraduate, he served as an intern in a variety of basketball settings, including with the Westchester Knicks and a New York based sports agency.

A 2016 graduate of New York University, Duffy earned his Bachelor of Science in Sports Management and is currently pursuing his Master of Science in Sport Leadership and Coaching from Western New England University. ​
