Charleston Southern men’s basketball head coach Barclay Radebaugh announced the addition of assistant coach Anthony White to the staff Tuesday afternoon.
White joins the Buccaneer staff after spending the 2020-21 season at Ferrum College, a Division III program in Virginia. In the Covid-shortened season the Panthers finished 7-6 overall with a 5-4 mark in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) making a run to the ODAC semifinals.
“We are very excited to add Anthony to our coaching staff,” said Charleston Southern men’s basketball head coach Barclay Radebaugh. “During the interview process Anthony’s desire to know and serve God, his commitment to excellence and his positive enthusiasm quickly became evident.”
Radebaugh added “Anthony will be a tremendous asset in every area of our program. He has experienced a tremendous amount of success during his basketball career and winning is contagious. We are glad to welcome Anthony and we are excited to watch him contribute and grow.”
Prior to his stint at Ferrum, White was an assistant coach at Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana where he was responsible for scouting and recruiting, player development, gameday set up, mentoring, monthly newsletters and ran the team’s social media accounts.
“I just want to thank God for this opportunity,” said Anthony White. “After meeting with Coach Radebaugh and talking about the culture and future of CSU basketball. I felt like CSU is the place I need to be. It’s a blessing and I’m ready to get to work!”
While with the Quakers, White had a player lead the NCAA across DI, DII and DII in three-point field goal percentage and recorded the most conference wins in a season over the last 15 years. The Quakers also led all of DIII in three-point field-goal percentage with a .422 mark from deep during the 2018-19 season.
White also spent three seasons at Lincoln Middle School as the Basketball and Track & Field Coach before making the jump to the collegiate ranks.
White played collegiately at Land Lake College before finishing his career at Mercer where he was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Tournament Team in 2014. White led the ASUN in three-point percentage (43%) that same season and beat No. 3 Duke in the Round of 64 of the NCAA Tournament.
White then played professionally in Australia in the South East Australian Basketball League for one season where he averaged 18 points, four assists and three rebounds per game.
A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, White graduated from Mercer University with a degree in Communications with a minor in Media Study.
