Wilker promoted to Assistant Coach at North Dakota State

Spencer Wilker has been promoted to assistant coach for the North Dakota State men’s basketball program, NDSU head coach David Richman announced today.

Wilker has served the Bison in various capacities since 2015, starting as the head student manager from 2015-18 before being hired as the director of men’s basketball operations in June 2019. With four seasons of experience under his belt in that role, Wilker will now make the transition to on-court instruction, scouting, game-planning, and recruiting as an assistant coach.

“We are absolutely thrilled to announce the promotion of Coach Wilker. Spencer is a Bison through and through,” Richman said. “Coach Wilker has earned this opportunity through his passion and sheer dedication to Bison Basketball. We look forward to working with Spencer in his new role and continuing to raise the bar within our program.”

Through his previous roles, Wilker has extensive experience in managing the program’s budget, organizing NDSU’s basketball camps, coordinating team travel and meals, and leading the team’s film and video operations, among other duties.

“I want to thank Coach Richman for this opportunity, and I am excited to continue our work to lift Bison Basketball to the next level,” Wilker said. “This program means a lot to me, and it has been a great joy to work with our players, our university, and our community to perform at a high standard. We will continue to work every day to develop quality young men and make NDSU proud.”

Wilker is a native of Kenosha, Wis. He is a 2019 graduate of North Dakota State with a degree in strategic communication.
