Averett University men’s basketball head coach David Doino announced the addition of D.J. Woodmore as an assistant coach with the program.
Woodmore brings a wealth of basketball knowledge to the Cougars following a successful professional and collegiate career. Woodmore starred at Division III Virginia Wesleyan College, earning All-America honors from multiple organizations, including First Team All-America accolades from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) in 2011-12 and 2013-14. Woodmore was the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2012 and 2014, and earned National Rookie of the Year from D3hoops.com in 2011. During his four years, he averaged 16.2 points per game.
Following four years at Virginia Wesleyan, Woodmore played professionally in Europe with PIS Baskets Speyer in Germany for several seasons, along with one season with Baskets Club Gries Oberhoffen in France in 2016.
A native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Woodmore graduated from Virginia Wesleyan in 2014 and earned his bachelor’s degree in communication and media studies. He is currently pursuing his master’s of business administration from Averett.
