Bethany College men’s basketball head coach Mike Worrell has announced that he is stepping down effective immediately. Worrell was hired as Bethany’s 27th head coach on June 4, 2021.  

Director of Athletics Brian Sansom will take over as interim head coach.  

“On behalf of Bethany College, I thank Mike for his dedication to Bison athletics and the hard work and long hours that he devoted to the department and program,” says Sansom. “I know this was a difficult decision. We wish Mike and his family the very best in all of their future endeavors.”  

Worrell spent the past two seasons as head coach of the Bison. Before becoming the head coach, Worrell was the associate director of athletics.  

A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
