D’Youville University Director of Athletics, Ona Halladay, has announced the addition of Andy Stark as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach.

“We are extremely excited to add Andy to our staff here at D’Youville,” said Halladay. “His vast experience will be an integral addition to the men’s basketball program. Andy’s resume speaks for itself, and we are all looking forward to him adding his expertise to our growing department.”

Stark joins the Saints after serving on the NCAA Division I Baylor men’s basketball staff. During his time with the Bears, Stark helped the team see a 27-7 record, winning the 2021 Big 12 Championship and making it to the NCAA March Madness Round of 32 as the No. 1 seed.

Prior to his time with the Bears, Stark served as the assistant coach at Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference member Penn State-Behrend. While coaching at PSU-Behrend, the Lions posted a 20-9 record and were AMCC Tournament finalists in the 2020-21 season. Senior Dorian Connors was named the 2020 AMCC Defensive Player of the Year, while junior Kenny Fukon was named to the All-AMCC First Team.

Before his time with the Lions, Stark spent three years as an assistant coach at Division II Gannon University in Erie, Pa. Under his tenure, the Golden Knights saw a 51-38 record, including a 40-25 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) record, two trips to the PSAC final four, and an appearance in the 2017-18 Atlantic Region Tournament.

Stark also spent time at Stevenson University in Owings Mills, Md. as a graduate assistant for the men’s basketball team. His duties included recruiting, scouting, film breakdown, practice scouting sessions, and individual workout sessions. Prior to Stevenson, Stark served as the head student assistant at St. Bonaventure while pursuing his undergraduate degree in Allegheny, N.Y. He helped lead the program to its first Atlantic-10 Conference Championships in program history, as the Bonnies took the title in 2012 and advances to the second round of the NCAA March Madness tournament.

At the 2016 NCAA Final Four in Houston, Texas, Stark was a bench coach for the Reese’s Senior All-Star game with former San Antonio Spurs head coach John Lucas and NBA Hall of Famers George Gervin.

Stark graduated from St. Bonaventure University in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communications. He earned his master’s degree in communications studies from Stevenson in 2017.

Stark currently resides in the area with his wife Alia and dog Millie Jean.
