Darian Dollar has been named as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Ellsworth Community College under Coach Bryan Bender.
“Coach Darian Dollar is a high character and hard working up and coming coach that will bring instant credibility to our program with his diverse background at the High Major level at Florida State & University of South Florida. He brings a wealth of knowledge and pedigree as he has been around the game at a high level his entire life. We are excited to welcome him to our program and his experiences have been a huge help already in recruiting and building our championship culture here at Ellsworth!” said Bryan Bender, head coach of the Ellsworth Community College Men’s Basketball team.
Dollar spent the last two seasons as a Graduate Assistant Coach at Florida State University under hall of fame head coach, Leonard Hamilton. In his first season at FSU, the team secured second place in the ACC and went to the NCAA tournament and finished in the Sweet 16.
Prior to Florida State, Dollar was a student assistant coach for three years at The University of South Florida under head Coach Brian Gregory from 2017-2020. In his second season at USF, the team won a school record 24 games and won the CBI tournament.
Dollar completed his Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences at USF and his Master’s degree in International and Multicultural Education at FSU.
Dollar comes from a long lineage of basketball coaches: Dollar’s father, Chad is currently an assistant coach at the University of Cincinnati and is recognized as one of the top assistant coaches in the nation. His grandfather, Donald Dollar was a successful coach at Douglass High School and was one of the pioneers of the AAU basketball movement in Atlanta. Dollar’s uncle, Cameron, was a top prospect who won a national championship at UCLA in 1995.
When asked about what it means to join Ellsworth as an Assistant Coach, Dollar had this to say, “I am very excited to be joining Coach Bender and his staff at Ellsworth. I look forward to getting to know the mens’ basketball team and developing them in to a successful program not only on the court but also in the classroom.
