I mentioned this one in the Daily Dirt back on 10/12 – it’s now official. Tufts has added Tommy Eastman as an assistant men’s basketball coach. Here’s the release from the Jumbos:

The Tufts University men’s basketball team has added Tommy Eastman as a new assistant coach to the staff for the upcoming 2022-23 season.  

Eastman is a former 1000 point collegiate scorer between Geneseo, Middlebury and Brandeis. He played his first two years in 2016-18 with Geneseo, averaging 10.6 points per game. In his sophomore season, he was named to the All-SUNYAC Second Team, as he averaged 14.5 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. 

He transferred to Middlebury in the 2019-20 season, where he averaged 13.6 points per game and 6.7 rebounds per game, and was named to the All-NESCAC Second Team. After COVID canceled the 2020-21 season, Eastman transferred and did a post-graduate year at Brandeis. 

In his only season with Brandeis, Eastman averaged 15.8 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game. In that season, he was named to the All-UAA Second Team, Second Team All Region, and was All Academic UAA.

Eastman is extremely excited to be joining the Jumbos coaching staff for the 2022-23 season. “I love the NESCAC and have always admired what Tufts has to offer,” said Eastman. “I am appreciative of the opportunity to learn from and work with Coach (Brandon) Linton and develop lifelong relationships with the student athletes in the program.”

“I am thrilled to add Tommy to our staff for the upcoming season,” said Tufts head coach Brandon Linton. “He was a standout at the Division III level and in the NESCAC.  That experience will be extremely valuable to our players and coaching staff alike.  Tommy has all of the tools to be a star in this business.  We’re all excited to get to work.”

The Jumbos open up their season on the road against Emerson College on Saturday, November 12th at 1 p.m.
