Earlier today I mentioned the change at Lynn University (D2 DIRT). It’s now official. Here’s the release from LU:

Jeff Price has announced he will step down as head coach for the men’s basketball team at the conclusion of the 2023-24 season after 17 years and two different stints with the Lynn University Fighting Knights. 

After 42 years of collegiate coaching, Price plans to spend time watching his daughter Abby compete in her final high school basketball season. 

Price has been an instrumental figure in Lynn’s men’s basketball program, dating back to the inception of the program in 1993. 

In his 17 years, he has amassed 242 wins for Lynn University. During his tenure, his programs have had eight post-season appearances, including three Sweet 16’s, one Elite 8, and in 1997, a trip to the Final Four. 

Price’s success as a head coach extended outside of Lynn as he earned 429 wins total in his head coaching career. He is the third-winningest head coach at Georgia Southern with 138 wins. He also had successful seasons as head coach at West Virginia Wesleyan and as interim head coach at the University of South Alabama.

“Jeff is an exceptional coach, mentor and colleague and I will miss him not just as our men’s basketball coach, but also as an incredible person,” said Interim Athletic Director Kathy Kroupa. “Jeff has mentored and developed hundreds of young men during his time here and he has had a tremendous impact on the men’s basketball program and Lynn University. Stepping away to watch his daughter play the sport he has dedicated his career speaks volumes about who he is as a person. I wish him the best as he steers away from being a basketball coach to being a full-time basketball father.”

A national search for the next Fighting Knights head men’s basketball coach will begin in January 2024.
