Former Villanova Head Coach Kyle Neptune lands on Charlotte Hornets staff

Five months after parting ways with Villanova, Kyle Neptune has landed his next role, joining the Charlotte Hornets as an assistant coach on Charles Lee’s staff.

Neptune, a Brooklyn native, played four seasons at Lehigh before launching his coaching career. He got his start as a video coordinator at Villanova under Jay Wright in 2008, then spent four years as an assistant at Niagara before returning to Villanova in 2013. Over the next eight seasons, he helped guide the Wildcats to two national championships. Neptune later served as head coach at Fordham for one season and then at Villanova for three years, compiling a combined head coaching record of 70-63.

After his dismissal this spring, Neptune briefly worked as a media analyst before moving to Charlotte. Now, he’ll look to translate his extensive college experience and championship pedigree to the NBA, where he’ll help Lee develop the Hornets’ young core.
