I can confirm that John Jay College is set to hire Tufts University assistant James Holmes as its next head men’s basketball coach.
Holmes joined the Tufts staff in 2023 and previously served as an assistant at RPI, Oswego State, and his alma mater, SUNY Oneonta. During his time at both Tufts and RPI, the programs earned spots in the D3Hoops.com national rankings.
He will succeed Ryan Hyland, who left the program this past spring to join the staff at Fordham.
This move is expected to become official early next week.
