A few quick items as we cruise on into the weekend….

I can confirm that Towson DBO Duane Simpkins is headed to UNC-Greensboro where he will join Wes Millers staff. Simpkins is a former Maryland standout who spent one season at Towson. Before Towson, he was the head coach at St. Albans (DC) for four seasons. He was part of two Sweet 16 squads as a player at Maryland.

I mentioned the Northland job a few times in recent blogs (http://www.hoopdirt.com/blog/82ea2b8d/daily-dirt-4-9-12/…). Multiple sources have now said that Ron Jirsa and Stu Engen have removed their names from consideration. I’ve heard from someone close to the situation that they are now scrambling for the next tier of candidates.
