Back on 3/8, I mentioned that a SIAC job was going to open (Daily Dirt – 3/8/16) – it is now official, Clark Atlanta University has opted to move forward in a new direction with the men’s basketball program relieving head coach Tony LaMarr of his duties after three seasons.

LaMarr directed the Panthers to a 31-53 (.369) record over three seasons. Prior to leading the team, LaMarr served as an assistant coach for three seasons – including the 2011 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) championship.

“Coach LaMarr served this University with professionalism, passion, and a desire to develop his student-athletes into leaders.  We are grateful for his dedication to the basketball program and wish him well in his next pursuits,” stated Lin Dawson, Athletics Director.

The process for finding a successful head coach with the ability to build a championship program will begin immediately. In the interim, former Clark Atlanta student-athlete and current assistant coach,Alfred Jordan will serve in the leadership role for the Panthers. Interested parties should monitor the University’s website for the job announcement.

Clark Atlanta has claimed the SIAC title four times (1940, 1954, 1965, 2011) and has posted a record of 921-852 since the 1949-1950 season.
