Texas head coach Shaka Smart just released the following statement:

“David Cason will no longer be a part of our men’s basketball coaching staff. We are very appreciative of his efforts over the past two years here at Texas. We wish David and his family well in the future as he moves forward.”

Cason was on Smart’s staff at VCU, and has also been an assistant at Tulsa and TCU. He also served in administrative roles under Matt Doherty at Notre Dame and North Carolina. No reason has been give for his departure.
