Rogers Added to Oklahoma Baptist Men’s Basketball Staff

Zac Rogers has been named assistant coach on the Oklahoma Baptist men’s basketball staff. Rogers spent the last season at Division II Midwestern State in the Lone Star Conference.

“Today is another significant day for our players in hiring Zac Rogers to be our assistant coach,” said head coach Jason Eaker. “We are impressed with his family, character, and strong desire to want to help OBU Basketball pursue championships in the days ahead.”

Rogers assisted in developing JaJuan Starks and Josh Wallace to All-LSC honors in 2018-19 with Starks nabbing a third team selection.

Prior to his stint with the Mustangs, he served the last three seasons as an assistant coach on Bill Muse’s staff at Connors State after logging two seasons as a graduate assistant for Lon Kruger at the University of Oklahoma for the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons including his involvement and development with current Sacramento Kings guard Buddy Hield.

“I’ve been impressed with his hands-on involvement and player development role with Buddy Hield,” added. Eaker. Even more important to me is Zac’s ability to find ways to help players improve their skills.”

“I couldn’t be more excited to be joining the coaching staff here at OBU,” said Rogers. “Coach Eaker has been so good to me and I can’t wait to work with him and his staff every day. I think last season was a great indicator of the future of the program.”

Rogers worked summer basketball camps at Oklahoma, Tulsa and Oral Roberts following his collegiate playing career at Oklahoma Wesleyan.

He helped the Eagles to the NAIA Division II Final Four in 2010 and to the Elite Eight in 2011.
