George Washington men’s basketball head coach Jamion Christian and his coaching staff will host a free coaching clinic on Saturday, October 19th from 8 am – 1pm in the Charles E. Smith Center.
Open to coaches of all levels, the clinic will begin with registration at 8am followed by a welcome from Coach Christian, who was recently ranked #3 on an NBC Sports list of college coaches under the age of 40 who are set for stardom.
The assistant coaching staff will then lead sessions focusing on each aspect of the game: Ryan Devlin will focus on GW’s defense, Nima Omidvar will discuss GW’s special teams, and Graham Bousley is set to speak about GW’s offensive system. The clinic will culminate with a team practice at 10:45 am and conclude with a Q&A with Christian.
“I’m a DMV product,” said Christian. “I was born with the belief that the best basketball in the world is played in DC, and I’ve had the opportunity to play and coach with, for and against the best basketball minds in my career. I’m indebted to the game, and for those reasons, we’re hosting this free coaching clinic. It’s our mission with GW Basketball for all coaches at all levels to know that this program is DC’s program and that we’re here to live, love and share the game as we know it with all comers. We’ll look forward to seeing everyone on the 19th.”
Christian, who enters his eighth year overall as a head coach and first at GW in 2019-20, has built a reputation for transforming programs. The Virginia native and Mount St. Mary’s alum spent six years as the head coach of his alma mater – reaching two NCAA tournaments in his tenure – before spending the 2018-19 season at Siena, where he led the Saints to a nine-win improvement from the season before his arrival.
