According to a report by Shams Charania of The Athletic, University of Memphis head basketball coach Penny Hardaway has emerged as “serious candidate” to become the next coach of the Orlando Magic.
Hardaway, the 3rd pick in the 1993 draft by Orlando, starred for the Magic from 1993-1999. He played in the league until 2008, and scored over 10,000 points in his career. The four-time NBA All-Star, has been the head coach of his hometown Memphis Tigers since 2018, where he has gone 63-32 (.663). He is currently under contract through the 2025-26 season.
