Reed Ridder has been hired as the men’s basketball assistant coach. Ridder most recently served on the coaching staff in a Recruiting/Player Development role for the Georgia Southern University men’s basketball team under Coach Brian Burg.
Prior to his time with GSU, Ridder completed a two-year stint as Graduate Assistant for the University of Georgia Bulldogs under Coach Tom Crean in 2018-20, helping with the development of the #1 Overall NBA Draft pick in Anthony Edwards.
Prior to joining the University of Georgia, Ridder played professionally overseas for two seasons –Spain 2017-2018 and Australia 2016-2017. He enjoyed a strong collegiate career, playing three seasons for his father, Steve Ridder, at NCAA II Embry-Riddle University after playing for NCAA II Lynn University his freshman year.
Ridder scored 1,003 career points and helped lead Embry-Riddle to a 35-2 record, the Florida Sun Conference championship and finishing his career ranked eighth in program history with 181 3-pointers made.
Ridder comes from a rich basketball family. His father, Steve, currently the Head Coach of NCAA II Embry-Riddle, Steve was also inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame with 700-plus career wins. His brother Ryan is currently the head coach at NCAA DI University of Tennessee Martin, formerly the head coach at Bethune-Cookman University, as well as a former head coach at Daytona State College and led the Falcons to four straight conference championships.
Ridder earned his Master of Science in Sports Administration from the University of Georgia in 2020 and his bachelor degree in business administration is from Embry-Riddle University 2016.
