Burris elevated to Associate Head Basketball Coach at UIndy

University of Indianapolis men’s basketball head coach Paul Corsaro has announced changes to his coaching staff. Mike Burris has been promoted to associate head coach, effective immediately.

“I’m incredibly honored and humbled to step into this new role at UIndy.  I can’t express enough gratitude to Coach Corsaro and Scott Young for their faith & trust in me,” said Burris.  “It is a privilege to work alongside Coach Corsaro each day and help him carry out his vision.  None of this would be possible without the staff and student-athletes that I have had the pleasure of working with the past two seasons.  My family and I love UIndy, the city of Indianapolis, and Greyhound Basketball!  I look forward to our continued pursuit of excellence under Coach Corsaro’s leadership as we strive to build on the foundation laid in our first two seasons.”

The Hounds have notched 30 wins the last two seasons with Burris’ leadership.  In his first year, UIndy won 11 of their final 16 games to earn an improbable postseason berth and downing the No. 2-ranked team in the GLVC quarterfinal.  Year two saw the Hounds post 19 wins along with the programs first-ever GLVC championship appearance.  In two seasons, Burris has mentored six All-Conference selections.

“I am so happy for Mike as he is very deserving of this title change and promotion.  He has been a true extension of me and a vital part in our program’s numerous successes in such a short time,” noted Corsaro.  “Mike has been a great mentor to our student-athletes.  He demonstrates pride and loyalty for our University on a daily basis.  I have no doubt that he will continue to grow, develop, and help our program attain even greater accomplishments in the upcoming years.  Greyhound Basketball is a family, and it’s made even better by having people in it like Mike Burris.”
