D3 DIRT: Anderson U (IN) set to open

Story: Adam Nelson (@HD_DirtKing)

I can confirm that Anderson University (IN) head coach Owen Handy will resign, and will be replaced on an interim basis by assistant coach Carter Collins. It sounds like Handy will be stepping away from basketball to enter the corporate world.

Handy had been at Anderson for the past ten seasons, where he put together a 124-123 (.502) record. Last season, his team went 16-10 (11-7) and qualified for the HCAC Tournament for the seventh straight season. Prior to becoming the head coach at AU, Handy spent nine seasons as an assistant at his alma mater Wheaton College (IL).

Collins has been at Anderson for the past five seasons, serving the past three as the top assistant. He also works as the head golf coach at AU.

This is expected to be made official later today.
