Daily Dirt – 3/19/18

A few quick things to kick off what should be a busy week…

  • The search at Little Rock is moving quickly. I’ve heard that it could be down to four candidates, with on campus interviews this week. The hot name here has been Jacksonville State head coach Ray Harper. His squad is currently 22-12 and still alive in the CBI. I’ve also heard that a A DII coach is involved (and it’s not Darrell Walker)…

  • I’ve heard a bunch of names for the vacant Nicholls State job. A lot of people have mentioned LSU-Alexandria head coach Larry Cordaro (finished second last time around). I have also heard Quannas White (assistant coach Houston- Louisiana native), Donte’ Jackson (head coach Grambling State – led them to first SWAC regular season title in 19 years this season), Chris Oney (head coach Pearl River CC – Louisiana native and former assistant at Nicholls State), and John Aiken (has been on Richie Riley’s staff at Nicholls State for the past two seasons – heard he has a spot at South Alabama if he doesn’t get this).

  • Good DIII opening at Gettysburg College (PA). Some names that I’ve heard there: Lafayette assistant coach Jimmy Fenerty, Gettysburg assistant coach Jeff Slanovec, Vassar College head coach B.J. Dunne, Southern Vermont head coach Dan Engelstad, and possibly one more Patriot League assistant. It sounds like interviews have been scheduled and will get underway soon.

  • I can confirm that David Pettit is no longer the head coach at NJCAA DII McHenry County College (IL). The Scots finished this season 5-26 (0-14). HoopDirt.com will have the position posted in our jobs section shortly. **UPDATE…Job is now posted HERE**

  • ICYMI: Yesterday’s search update at Evansville can be found HERE.

  • For all of you who are participating in HoopDirt.com’s March Madness Bracket Challenge, current standings are HERE. The DirtKing is lurking in 5th….
