Daily Dirt – 4/19/16

A few things to start the day…

  • Former UNLV assistant Ryan Miller has been hired by Jamie Dixon at TCU.  He had spent the past two seasons at UNLV, and has also worked at Memphis, Auburn, and New Mexico. He will join former LSU assistant David Patrick who was brought on board by Dixon earlier this month.
  • New Vanderbilt head coach Bryce Drew will hire Casey Shaw as an assistant coach.  The 37th overall pick in the 1998 NBA Draft also happens to be Drew’s brother in law. I have also heard that Liberty assistant coach Omar Mance will be added in an administrative role. Prior to coming to Liberty, Mance spent three seasons as an assistant at Army.
  • Our thoughts are with former UTSA head coach Brooks Thompson. He was recently hospitalized, and his wife posted this via Facebook: “After months of not feeling well, Brooks was rushed to the ER and diagnosed with double organ failure. The doctors told us he wouldn’t live past two days! By the Grace of God and 6 days in ICU – Brooks has miraculously made a turn for the better.” All of us at HoopDirt.com are wishing him and his family the best.
