SHSU Associate Head Coach Set for Administrative Role at Indiana

Sam Houston State associate head coach Justin Bailey announced on social media last night that he is on the move. I have heard that he will land in an administrative role at Indiana, most likely as the Director of Player Development. Bailey had been at SHSU since 2021, and has also worked at Pittsburg State, Arkansas Ft. Smith, and Lamar. He began his coaching career as a GA at Arizona State under Herb Sendak.

Staff Overhaul Underway at Yale Following Simon’s Departure

Yesterday, I reported that Yale Associate head coach Justin Simon will become the head coach at D3 Carnegie Mellon (D3 DIRT). In my digging on Yale, I have also learned of some more moves that will happen on the Bulldogs staff. It sounds like Tobe Carberry will return to the Yale after spending the past five seasons at Columbia. Carberry had been at Yale for three seasons (2017-20) and has also been an assistant at LIU Brooklyn, Central Connecticut, Southern Connecticut, and New Haven. I have also heard that New Haven assistant coach Derrick Seldon will be hired at Yale as the Director of Basketball operations. Seldon joined the UNH staff back in 2021, and has also worked as an assistant at his alma mater Western Connecticut.

George Mason Bolsters Sideline with Veteran Assistant

I can confirm that Serge Clement is no longer an assistant at George Mason, and has been replaced by Andy Fox. Last season was Clement’s first at GMU following a three year stint at Hofstra. Fox spent last season as an assistant at Army, and was on the Vanderbilt staff for five seasons before that. He has also been an assistant at Louisiana Tech, Tulane, and The Citadel.

Central Florida Adds Veteran Evaluator in Special Assistant Role

Chris Wash has been named as the Special Assistant to the Head Coach at Central Florida. Wash had been working as a national talent evaluator out of Dallas for many years.

Reinhardt Coaching Search Nears Finish Line

I have heard that the search at NAIA Reinhardt University is done. Multiple sources report that the leader here is former Bluefield University head coach Richard Morgan. The veteran head coach stepped down at BU this spring after 16-seasons as the Rams head coach. Morgan, who played at Virginia, has also worked as a D1 assistant at App State, East Carolina, and Hampton. Sounds like the other finalist here is a current NAIA head coach who is a former assistant at Reinhardt. More on this one once it becomes official.

Gwynedd Mercy Finalizing Coaching Search with Deep Candidate Pool

Sounds like the search at D3 Gywnedd Mercy is down to the final group. Some names that are making te rounds include: Millersville assistant Ryan Van Zelst (former head coach at Penn State Abington), Salisbury assistant Sean Brown (former head coach at Frostburg State), DeSales assistant Stephen Griffin, Gwynedd Mercy Hall-of-Famer (and Harlem Globetrotter) Darnell ” Speedy” Artis, and a current D3 head coach.

South Arkansas College Hires New Head Coach

NJCAA D2 South Arkansas College has hired Eric Collins as their new head men’s basketball coach. Collins, a Maine native, spent last season as the associate head coach at the University of Maine-Augusta. The Army veteran will replace Cam Robinson who had spent the past three seasons as the Stars head coach.

High School Power Myers Park Tabs Former D2 Head Coach

Former D2 Mount Olive head coach Dory Hines has been named as the head coach at Myers Park HS (NC). In addition to his time at Mount Olive, Hines also served as a college assistant at D2’s UNC Pembroke and Lander.

John Jay Head Coach on the Move to A-10

ICYMI…D3 John Jay head coach Ryan Hyland is headed to Fordham as an assistant. No official announcement yet, but here’s my report from yesterday (D3 DIRT).
