Here are some things that I’ve heard as we head in to the last weekend in May…
- Pretty cool story coming out of Illinois State. Director of Basketball Operations Mitch Gilfillan has resigned, and will take a job as an attorney at a local law firm. The former Ball State and SIUE assistant graduated from law school back in 2009. I have seen guys leave the business for a lot of reasons (and not always good ones) – nice to see some one make a good move!
- I have heard that NYIT assistant Andrew Cobian will become an assistant at DII Pace (NY). Cobian has been at NYIT since he graduated from Centenary College (NJ) in 2011.
- DIII Blackburn College (IL) has named Steve Kollar as their new head coach. He replaces Jason Baribeau who resigned back in April. Kollar was most recently an assistant Benedictine University (IL), and has also been an assistant at St. Francis (IL). Since 2014, he has been involved with the Mercury Elite AAU.
- Earlier this morning, I posted the finalists for the St. Leo (FL) job: DI DIRT: St. Leo Finalists. There is one correction to be made – USC Aiken head coach Vince Alexander’s record is actually 196-113 (not 196-13 like I listed). Obviously I had not had my coffee yet….
