Catching up on a bunch of things…

  • I can confirm that Johnny Hill has been named as a graduate assistant on Dan Majerle’s staff a Grand Canyon. Hill spent last season on the staff at the University of Northwestern Ohio. He played at three different DI schools: Purdue University (2015-16), University of Texas-Arlington (2013-15), Illinois State University (2011-2013).

  • Back on 6/3, we published the job for the Director of Basketball Operations at Cornell. I have now heard that the posting is a formality, and that current DBO David Robertson is expected to be retained. He was the graduate assistant at Houston before being hired at Cornell last spring.


  • I have heard that University of San Francisco video coordinator Anthony Lorenzo will depart Kyle Smith’s staff and become an assistant coach at DII Academy of Art University (CA). Lorenzo has previously been an assistant at Rutgers Newark, and Centenary College (NJ).


  • I can confirm that new Pittsburg State head coach Kim Anderson will add Jason Owens to his staff. Owens had spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach at Moberly Area CC (MO). Anderson has also hired Jon Gilliam as an assistant coach. Gilliam was on Anderson’s Missouri staff for the past three seasons, serving the first two as a GA, and last year as the video coordinator.


  • NJCAA DI Lake Region State College (ND) will hire Alex Herman as an assistant coach. Herman served as a graduate assistant for the past two seasons at Mayville State. He started his playing career at Lake Region State (2011-13) before finishing at Mayville State (2013-15).


  • Daniel Eacho will be hired as the graduate assistant at Salisbury University. He spent last season as an assistant at Hampden-Sydney following his graduation from Roanoke College in 2015. While at Roanoke, he was a two-time All-ODAC honoree, ODAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and four-time member of the ODAC All-Academic Team, while totaling 1,311 career points.


  • Another job that we posted has been filled internally…Delaware Valley will promote part-time assistant coach Joe Brown to graduate assistant. He joined the DelVal staff last season for his first coaching position after a standout career at fellow Middle Atlantic Conference school Arcadia University. He finished his career as the school’s all-time leader in rebounds with 691 and was second in scoring with 1,399 points.


  • I can confirm that Stedman Allen has been hired as the graduate assistant coach at NAIA William Woods University (MO). Allen spent this past year playing professionally overseas. The Bronx, NY native had played collegiately at Labette CC, Wagner, and Angelo State.
