Daily Dirt – 9/12/16

A bunch of things that I’ve heard…

  • Former Delaware assistant Phil Martelli, Jr. has landed as an assistant with the Delaware 87ers (D-League). He had spent the previous five seasons at UD, and has also worked at Niagara, Manhattan, and Central Connecticut. He played for his father, Phil Martelli, at St. Joe’s.
  • Saagar Sarin has been hired as a graduate assistant at USC. He had spent the previous two years as the head manager for the Trojans, and will be the youngest GA in the PAC-12 this season.
  • I can confirm that LaRell Dock has been named as an assistant coach at Tuskegee University. He had spent the past two seasons as an assistant at Pfeiffer University. Dock played at Lock Haven where he also served as a volunteer assistant  coach.
  • I have heard that new Delaware Valley head coach Mark Seidenburg has hired Joe Brown as an assistant coach. Brown is a 2015 graduate of Arcadia College (PA) who spent the past year playing against the Harlem Globetrotters. He was a three-time all conference selection during his time at Arcadia.
  • Tyrone Johnson has been named as an assistant coach at Wallace State (AL). He had been an assistant at Lincoln College (IL) since 2013. The former manager at Illinois State has also worked at South Suburban College.
  • I can confirm that Kristopher Riggs has been named as an assistant at Minnesota West CC. He played collegiately at Ecclessia College and Allen University, and has also spent time coaching with the Arkansas Blazers AAU.
