DAILY DIRT D3 EDITION: Two Head Coach jobs set to open…

I have heard that two D3 head coaching jobs are set to open…

Alfred University (NY): Multiple people have told me today that AU head coach Russell Phillips will step down and accept another position at the university (possibly in advancement). Phillips has been at Alfred since 2014, where he compiled a 97-68 (.588) record. He was named as the Empire 8 and D3Hoop.com East Region Coach of the Year in 2018-19, after leading his squad to the E8 regular season title, postseason title and the NCAA tourney for the first time since the 1996-97 season. An official announcement is expected shortly.

Northern Vermont University – Johnson: Miles Smith is no longer the Badgers head coach. The NVU-Johnson alum had been the head coach there for the past six seasons, where he went 40-94 (.299). Smith also spent one season as the head coach at D3 Wilson College (2014-15), and also served as the assistant AD at NVU-Johnson. More on this one when it becomes official.
