Danny Reese Named YSU Men’s Basketball Assistant to the Head Coach

Youngstown State University men’s basketball Head Coach Jerrod Calhoun has announced the appointment to his staff of Danny Reese as Assistant to the Head Coach.

Reese will assist Calhoun in the day-to-day operations and all aspects of the men’s basketball office. Last season, Reese served as an administrative assistant in the YSU men’s basketball office. Reese’s administrative duties included assisting in academic support, community outreach, camps and basketball operations.

“Danny is a hard worker and a young, up-and-comer in the coaching business,” Calhoun said. “He has great ties to the Youngstown State and Youngstown communities and will help keep our players visible in the Mahoning Valley.”

Reese was a member of the Penguins’ first postseason tournament team in 2012-13 when YSU advanced to the second round of the College Invitational Tournament (CIT). During his two seasons with YSU, the Penguins produced a two-year record of 34-31.

Reese graduated from The College of Wooster, where he played baseball for two seasons, in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in history. He went on to earn a master’s degree in management in 2016 from the University of Notre Dame.
