A few things that I’ve heard as we roll into Easter weekend…
- With Zach Spiker off to Drexel, the attention has now turned to Army. I have heard that current West Point associate head coach Jimmy Allen is receiving a lot of support for this job. Not only has he been on Spiker’s staff at the Academy for the past six seasons, his father is a West Point graduate who later became a chemistry professor there. Allen spent a good chunk of his childhood growing up on the campus. He also spent 6 season as the head coach at DIII Averett University (Va) where he went 98-69. Hearing that this one could get done quickly.
- Early yesterday morning, I mentioned Texas A&M assistant Rick Stansbury and his involvement at Western Kentucky (Daily Dirt – 3/24/16). With Texas A&M’s loss last night, rumors are getting stronger that WKU could be getting closer to finalizing a deal with Stansbury. Keep an eye on this one today…
- Small college dirt…I have heard that DIII Bethany Lutheran (MN) head coach Greg Holzhueter has been fired. He had been the head coach at BLC for the past three seasons (23-52 – 10-15, 2015-16) and was an assistant there for two years before that.
