Duckett joins Carroll University Basketball Staff

Luke Duckett has been hired as an assistant coach/graduate assistant for the 2019 -2020 Carroll University men’s basketball season. Duckett is a former UW-Eau Claire graduate, and student athlete. After graduating, he was the Director of Basketball Operations for the Nike EYBL Basketball Club in Denver, Colo. He was in charge of operations for 72 teams spread throughout Colorado and Utah and helped run and oversee camps.

However, this is not Duckett’s first time on campus as a Pioneer. Luke’s grandfather, Bob Duckett, was the Hinkey Hero Award winner in 1947. The Hinkey Hero award is given to the most outstanding student athlete of the year. As an Alum, Bob continued to show his support for Carroll Athletics, by donating parts of his real-estate commission back to the athletic department.  His son Mike Duckett, Luke’s father, did not attend Carroll but still shows his support for men’s basketball by being an active “Sixth Man Club” member.

Luke Duckett recalls being on campus as a young child, and growing up in Brookfield made it accessible to him. “Having strong roots is something I enjoy” said Duckett when asked what it meant to come back to Carroll. Duckett met Head Coach Paul Combs through recruiting, and made the decision to travel back home. Luke is enrolled in Carroll University’s Adult Community and Professional Education Master’s program.
