Philander Smith College in Little Rock has hired former Arkansas Razorback and NBA player Todd Day as men’s basketball coach.
The hiring was announced Wednesday.
Day spent the past two season coaching his alma mater of Hamilton High School in Memphis. He previously coached Memphis Academy of Health and Sciences and a Memphis-based AAU team.
Day said he was looking to move into college coaching and that Philander Smith is a great fit for him.
Day is the all-time leading scorer at Arkansas and was a first-round NBA draft pick in 1992 when he was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks. He also played in the NBA for Boston, Miami, Phoenix and Minnesota.
Philander Smith is a member of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference of the NAIA.
