Stetson men’s basketball head coach Corey Williams has announced the addition of Gravelle Craig to his staff as a full-time assistant coach.

Craig most recently spent six seasons (2011-17) as the head coach at Bethune-Cookman, leading the Wildcats to the 2012 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championship game for the first time in school history.

“Gravelle is a knowledgeable guy and he knows what I want in an assistant coach,” Williams said. “I’ve always respected what he’s done throughout his time as a head coach. In coaching, you have to have people on your staff whom you trust and believe in, and who also have strong knowledge of the game. He’s one of those guys. He’s a good teacher and a good recruiter, but more importantly he’s a good person and a team player, and that’s what I needed.”

Craig spent 14 years total at Bethune-Cookman, serving as both assistant coach and associate head coach from 2004-11. Prior to his time at Cookman, Craig spent a year at Chicago State (2003-04) and two seasons at Morris Brown (2001-03) in an assistant role.

“I’ve known Coach Williams for a while now and we’ve shared some ideas over the years of coaching against each other, and from that we developed a good relationship,” Craig said. “He’s a great guy and I think he’s got the program on a solid foundation and ready to turn the corner. I’m excited to get started.”

Prior to entering the college coaching ranks, Craig spent a summer working as the Director of Cleveland Pro-Am Summer Basketball League where numerous NBA players such as Bob Sura, James Posey, Earl Boykins and J.R. Bremer were featured as a part of his leadership.

A 1999 graduate of Cleveland State, Craig was a first-team All-Mid-Continent Conference performer with the Vikings. He helped lead CSU to the 1993 Mid-Con championships, and still holds the conference record for assists in a tournament game (14).
