Keith Chesley has been named as Director of Basketball Operations for Stetson men’s basketball, head coach Corey Williams announced.

Chesley come to DeLand after spending the previous two seasons as a graduate assistant with the men’s basketball team at Florida State.

“I’m really excited about the opportunity,” Chesley said. “I’m grateful that Coach Williams has brought me on board. I’m just a guy from a small town in Central Maine who didn’t know anybody a few years ago. Now I have a job in Division I basketball. I’m just really grateful to be here. I want to help in any way that I possibly can.”

With the Seminoles, Chesley coordinated the Leonard Hamilton Basketball Camp in 2017, while also assisting with individual workouts and team travel. He also managed on-campus recruiting visits, and was responsible for supervising the team’s undergraduate managers.

It is that breadth of experience which made Chesley the ideal candidate for the job, Williams said.

“Keith is an unbelievable person,” Williams said. “He’s very organized and gifted in a lot of areas. He understands basketball, and is able to build great relationships with players. He also understands how to get things done. He’s efficient at what he does. I couldn’t have hired a better person in terms of understanding what is required in this position. I’m so excited about having him here.”

In his role with the Hatters, Chesley will be responsible for all aspects of team travel and equipment, while also assisting with video, scouting, and the day-to-day operations of the men’s basketball program.

“It’s an extremely important role,” Williams said. “He’s my right-hand guy. In this case, I’m not sure I could have hired a more qualified person.”

A 2016 graduate of the University of Maine at Augusta, Chesley was a two-time All-American and a two-time all-conference performer for the Moose during his four years on campus. Chesley was also named the National Student-Athlete of the Year in 2015, and was a four-time Academic All-American. He is the all-time leading scorer (2,119 pts.) in UMA history.

Chesley is a native of Clinton, Maine. He received a Master’s degree in Sports Management from FSU in May.
