We’ve been following the search at Hartwick pretty closely over the past few weeks. Here’s a quick recap followed by some new info…
On August 19th, HoopDirt.com reported that the four finalists to replace Todd McGuinness as the head coach at Hartwick were all DIII Head Coaches from the state of New York (Hartwick Finalists).
A few weeks later, all of the candidates either turned down the job, or removed themselves from consideration. The search then began to focus on assistant coaches, with Stevens Tech assistant Waleed Farid interviewing on campus (Hartwick Search Update – 9/2/16).
HoopDirt.com has now learned that the next assistant to make a visit to campus has been Amherst College assistant coach Kevin Hopkins, who interviewed today. After graduating from Amherst in 2008, Hopkins played professionally in Germany before joining Dave Hixon’s staff where he has worked for the past five seasons.
There is no word yet on any other candidates interviewing at this time. More on this search as we hear it.
