Serve as head coach, counselor, educator and role model in order to foster the physical, intellectual, and social development of student-athletes. Actively engage in campus-wide activities and within the Student Affairs Division.
Maximize the physical talent of the basketball team through quality coaching, teaching, and the promotion of teamwork.
Follow all rules and guidelines set forth by the NCAA Division III, the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, and Carroll University policies and procedures.
Display professional decorum and serve as a positive ambassador of Carroll University at all times.
Plan, organize and administer all in-season practice sessions for men’s basketball, and develop team playing schedule in coordination with the Director of Athletics and scheduling offices.
Collaborate with the Office of Admission during the recruitment process to maximize enrollment of quality students.
Retain student-athletes at Carroll University within the men’s basketball program through constant monitoring, advisement, and counseling.
Hire, manage and evaluate assistant coaches.
Maintain, manage and update equipment inventories for men’s basketball.
Assist with the management and maintenance of all game and practice facilities used by the men’s basketball program.
Develop a practice and competition schedule.
Maintain a positive presence both on-campus and within the local community.
Teach the skills and strategies necessary to improve student skills and increase their understanding of the sport of basketball.
Prepare and manage men’s basketball budget.
Work with University Advancement in securing external funding to support the men’s basketball program.
Perform other duties as requested, delegated or assigned.
Minimum of 5 years progressive coaching experience required (College level experience preferred).
Prior administrative experience (Preferred).
Experience in administering camps and clinics, and fundraising (Preferred).
Current valid Strength and Conditioning certification.
Current CPR and First Aid certification.

Possess the ability to function effectively with the coaching staff and the entire campus community as a collaborative team player.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Be sensitive to the needs of Division III student-athletes and possess an understanding of their overall educational goals as well of as the academic mission of the University.
Possess the ability to serve as a positive role model to student athletes and to demonstrate productive, professional behavior at all times.
Possess the ability to work within a diverse environment.
Candidates must be willing and able to support and advance the University mission.
Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, ability, socio-economic background, or job type.
Technology Skills:
Working knowledge of the use of Excel spread sheets.
Understanding of budgeting and budget management processes as part of an administrative position.
