JUCO Dirt…

Some things that I’ve heard from the junior college world…

  • Chesapeake College – I can confirm that Allen Mitchell has been named as the head coach here.  He replaces Joel Dearring who resigned earlier this spring.  Mitchell has been an assistant at CC since 2010.  Before that, he spent 12 seasons on the staff at Prince George’s CC.
  • College of Southern Idaho – Yesterday, I mentioned that CSI assistant Chris McMillian would be hired as an assistant at Illinois Chicago (UIC Dirt).  I have now heard that CSI will promote volunteer assistant Aaron Anderson to replace McMillian.  Anderson joined the CSI staff prior to last season, and served in an administrative role at Gonzaga for four seasons before that.
  • Columbia State (TN) – The search for a new head coach is now down to two.  Apparently there were over 100 applicants to replace Penny Collins who became an assistant at ETSU.  This has been a long process that was narrowed from the 100+, to 12, to 8, and finally 2.  It sounds like this will be wrapped up by the end of the week.
