Loveless promoted to Associate Head Basketball Coach at Olivet

Olivet College head men’s basketball coach Sam Hargraves has announced assistant coach Chad Loveless has been promoted to associate head coach for the program. Loveless has been a part of the Comet men’s basketball staff for seven seasons, including the last four under Hargraves.

Born and raised in Charlotte, Loveless graduated from Charlotte High School in 1993. Prior to joining Olivet’s staff in 2016, he coached football and basketball at all levels for Olivet Community Schools.

COMMENTS FROM HARGRAVES

Coach Loveless has absolutely earned this title change. We have been together since I arrived at Olivet four years ago, and he has played a major role in the work we have done to try and build a basketball program. Every head coach is lucky if they have an assistant who they have great chemistry with. Chad and I have that, and it carries over to our players.

“Our players are lucky to have him as well, because he can make them better basketball players. Also, because he cares more about who they are going to become as young men while they are under our influence.”

COMMENTS FROM LOVELESS

“I am very grateful to Coach Hargraves and (Athletic Director) Haley Diringer for the promotion. The Olivet men’s basketball program is very special to me. I look forward to continuing to help coach, mentor and motivate our incredible student-athletes as they strive for excellence on the court, in the classroom and in the Olivet community.”
