McMillin out, McCann in at Palm Beach State

After 13 years of being a head men’s basketball coach, Scott McMillin turned in his resignation late last week to Palm Beach State College Athletic Director, Dr. David Holstein. McMillin spent 2 years at Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville before taking over the Lynn University position in Boca Raton and was there for 10 seasons. He accepted the position at Palm Beach State last July, leading the Panthers to a 16-13 mark highlighted by a victory over the 2013 JUCO National Champs College of Central Florida snapping their 33 game home winning streak. "Coach McMillin has decided to pursue an opportunity in the business field at this time, indicated Dr. Holstein. We certainly have appreciated his service to the College for the last 9 months and wish him the best in his future endeavors." Holstein went on to say, "In the short time Coach McMillin was with us, he set a solid blueprint of a value based, achievement oriented environment. With that being said we are thrilled to have Martin McCann join our basketball staff on a full time basis. He has had 3 years under Scott McMillin (2 years at Lynn and 1 year at PBSC). Although young, he has great capacity for the game and has solid relationships with the returning core of players. It is my belief that Coach McCann will continue to build on the healthy competitive culture that his mentor laid forth. We will give him every opportunity to succeed."

McMillin’s last official day will be April 11 and McCann will assume head coaching duties immediately.
