University of Minnesota Duluth Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Josh Berlo has announced that UMD will not renew the appointments of Men’s Basketball Head Coach Matt Bowen and his coaching staff.

“We would like to thank Coach Bowen for his commitment to UMD, his student-athletes and the community.” Berlo said.  “This was a difficult decision, following a thorough and thoughtful evaluation of the men’s basketball program. Ultimately, it was time to move in a new competitive direction with the leadership of our men’s basketball program.”

Bowen just completed his sixth season as Bulldogs’ head coach.

The University will promptly begin a national search for its next men’s basketball head coach with the search committee headed by UMD Senior Associate Athletic Director Karen Stromme.
