As announced by director of athletics Bill Pilgeram, Corban University’s Taylor Kelly has resigned from his post as the head men’s basketball coach for the Warriors, as Kelly has been slated for a return to southern California where he will rejoin his alma mater program after serving as the program leader for the Navy and Gold over the past five seasons.
“Taylor led this program with passion and energy from the moment he stepped on campus,” Pilgeram expressed. “We are so grateful for his heart in mentoring young men and the leadership he brought to our program. While he’ll be dearly missed by Warrior Nation, we pray for future success for TK and his family.”
Kelly concludes his time at Corban with an overall record of 86-51, having qualified for the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Tournament in all five seasons while making the program’s first appearance to the NAIA National Tournament since the 2016-17 season during the 2022-23 campaign. He’ll depart as the third most winningest head coach in program history with a career winning percentage of 62.7% and finished no worse than fifth in the incredibly competitive conference that makes up the Pacific Northwest NAIA programs in any one of his five seasons as a Warrior.
In five years, Kelly coached 13 All-Conference student-athletes consisting of seven First Team and six Honorable Mention selections, seven CSC Academic All-District award winners, 19 NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athletes, and 35 Academic All-Conference team members. The Warriors never had a losing season under Kelly’s guidance and even secured a spring CCC Tournament Championship during his initial season of coaching in the 2020-21 academic school year. Commonly referred to as “TK” among the Corban community, Kelly will depart from the University having improved upon the team culture, competitive excellence, and winning expectations that comes with the territory of Warrior men’s basketball.
