The Northeastern men’s basketball team is pleased to announce the additions of Bobby Martin and Joel Smith to the coaching staff. In addition, assistant coach Chris Markwood has been promoted to associate head coach heading into the 2016-17 season.
“I am very pleased and excited to announce the new additions to our staff,” said head coach Bill Coen. “Today, we welcome Coach Bobby Martin and welcome home Joel Smith to the Northeastern Men’s Basketball program.”
“Coach Martin has been a prominent member of the Boston basketball community for sometime, and has established himself as one the the premier teachers of the game, particularly for front court players. Bobby promises to be an outstanding resource for our players as a coach, teacher and mentor.”
Martin will serve as an assistant coach on Bill Coen‘s staff while former Husky Joel Smith (’13) will take on the role of video coordinator of the Huskies.
Martin, who will focus on coaching the Husky forwards, comes to Northeastern after running BMB Training and Development LLC, a premier training program for basketball players at every level, since 2012.
