VMI head basketball coach Dan Earl has announced that Steve Enright has joined the coaching staff as an assistant coach.
Enright began his duties in June and comes to VMI from nearby Bridgewater (Va.) College where he served three years on the Eagles coaching staff and was promoted to associate head coach before the 2016-17 season.
Enright previously served on head coach Dan Hurley’s staff at Rhode Island where he was the Rams’ assistant director of basketball operations.
Enright also coached previously at Pfeiffer University, Mount Ida College, and Endicott College.
A native of South Kingstown, Rhode Island, Enright has been active in coaching and conducting camps and event operations. He previously served as the director of event operations for Zero Gravity/Hoop Mountain Basketball, where he supervised numerous tournaments, showcases and camps around the country.
Enright is a 2012 graduate of Mount Ida College where he earned a bachelor’s degree in sport management with a concentration in coaching.
“I am very excited to welcome Steve Enright to our VMI Basketball Staff, said Earl. “Steve has a variety of experience working his way up the college basketball ranks with a basketball operations role at Rhode Island, as well as various assistant coaching stops. His most recent assistant coaching position, at Bridgewater College, has enabled him to make very strong recruiting contacts in Virginia and the surrounding states – a very important area for us here at VMI. He is known to be a tireless worker, a very thorough recruiter, and has great relationships with his players. He also has very good knowledge of the game of basketball. I am happy to have Steve join us and I am looking forward to him adding value to our VMI Basketball program.”
