The University of North Alabama will not renew the contract of current men’s basketball head coach Bobby Champagne, UNA Athletic Director Mark Linder announced Monday.

Champagne has coached at North Alabama since 2004 and has a 245-195 record with the Lions, including a 58-57 mark over the last four seasons.

“I met with Bobby this afternoon and notified him that his contract was not going to be renewed,” Linder said. “I thank Coach Champagne for his service to the University of North Alabama and the Shoals area. I wish him well in his future endeavors.”

Linder said the search for a new men’s basketball coach will begin immediately.
