Following up on a rumor that HoopDirt.com posted last week (Quinnipiac Dirt)…Mark Fogel has been officially named the director of basketball operations for the Quinnipiac men’s basketball program.  The announcement was made by Head Coach Tom Moore today.  Fogel comes to QU after serving as an assistant coach at Odessa College in Odessa, Texas. At Odessa, Fogel played a role in recruiting, scouting, player development, academic monitoring as well as scheduling and various administrative duties.

“I am thrilled to add Mark Fogel to our staff as Director of Basketball Operations,” said Moore. “He brings a wealth of experience from being in the SEC, Conference USA, and national junior college powerhouses. He has a terrific work ethic and will certainly help us continue to make a strong transition to the MAAC.”

Prior to joining the staff at Odessa, Fogel held the position of coordinator of video and player development at Tulane University. At Tulane, Fogel was responsible for all video operations including film breakdown and scouting report preparation while also assisting with practice and game-plan organization. He was also charged with coordinating on-campus visits and populating Tulane’s prospect database, and assisted with the organization and coordination of the Green Wave’s sports camps.
Before his stint at Tulane, Fogel held assistant coaching positions at Columbia State Community College, Mass Bay Community College and Wheelock College. As an undergraduate student, he held the position of student assistant basketball coach under former head coach Bruce Pearl.

Fogel earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell in 2011.
