Oral Roberts Men’s Basketball Coach Scott Sutton has announced the addition of Marc Stricker to his staff. Stricker will join ORU from Eastern Illinois, where he has been an assistant coach since 2013.

“I am excited to announce the hiring of Marc Stricker,” said Sutton. “I’ve known Marc a long time since his playing days at UMKC and have followed his career up the coaching ranks. He brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and passion for the game and most importantly he is a great fit for our program and our university. He has strong recruiting ties to the Midwest and understands what type of player and person we need to recruit to continue to compete for championships.”

“I’ve known Coach Sutton for a long time,” said Stricker. “I’ve admired him since my playing days at UMKC. I have tremendous respect for him and how he runs his program and I am excited to be able to work for him.”

Familiar with the Summit League, Stricker played basketball at UMKC, earning his bachelor’s (2003) and master’s (2005) degrees from there.

Stricker brings more than 10 years of coaching experience, having begun his career at his alma mater. He also coached two seasons at Maryville University, helping the Saints to 23 wins and a runner-up finish in the Great Lakes Valley Conference West Division. While on staff, Maryville beat No. 4 Bellarmine for the school’s first win over a nationally-ranked opponent.

Prior to his time at Maryville, Stricker served one season as head coach of the St. Louis Pioneers of the ABA. His team finished the season ranked No. 16 in the ABA Power Rankings and qualified for the playoffs after posting a 13-3 record with eight straight wins to close out the season.
