North Dakota State University director of athletics Matt Larsen has announced that head men’s basketball coach David Richman has signed five-year extensions through the 2030-31 season.
The Bison men set a school record with 27 wins in the 2025-26 season, sweeping the Summit League regular season and tournament championships. NDSU earned its sixth NCAA Tournament berth since 2009.
“My family and I are grateful for the continued support and commitment from Matt Larsen, our great university, and Bison Nation,” said Richman. “NDSU is a special place, and we’re thrilled to be part of the growth, future, and championship success that have become our standards and expectations.”
Richman is entering his 13th year as the head coach at North Dakota State. In 12 seasons, he has led the Bison to four NCAA Tournament berths and eight Summit League Tournament championship games. With 238 career victories, Richman is the second-winningest coach in school history. His .615 career winning percentage is the third-best by an NDSU coach in the last 100 years.
The NDSU men have six 20-win seasons in Richman’s tenure, including four times winning 23 or more games in a season.
