Paul Corsaro Named IPFW Men’s Basketball Assistant Coach

The Purdue Fort Wayne men’s basketball program has announced the addition of assistant coach Paul Corsaro. He comes to Purdue Fort Wayne from the University of Indianapolis, where he served on the Greyhounds’ staff for six seasons. He spent the last two as associate head coach for the NCAA Division II Greyhounds.

Corsaro’s tenure on the UIndy staff coincided with one of the most successful stretches in program history. The Hounds compiled four 20-win seasons and four NCAA Tournament appearances in his time. His student-athletes earned 13 All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honors, with Tate Hall receiving GLVC Freshman of the Year accolades in 2016-17. Nine Greyhounds were named to the GLVC All-Defensive Team during Corsaro’s time on the bench. The Greyhounds were ranked or received votes in the NABC Division II Top 25 Poll each season of Corsaro’s coaching career at Indianapolis. The 2014-15 team spent two weeks ranked No. 1 in the nation. They finished the season 25-6 and advanced to the program’s first ever Regional Championship.

“We are excited to have Paul join our coaching staff and believe that he will be a great fit for both our student-athletes and coaching staff,” Purdue Fort Wayne head coach Jon Coffman said. “Paul played and worked for Coach Stan Gouard at UIndy who I believe is one of the best coaches in our state at any level. Paul is bright, loyal, hardworking and a great communicator, and he has been involved with virtually every aspect of UIndy’s program during his tenure. I believe that he will bring great recruiting experience as well as the versatility to manage whatever task is needed within our program. Paul is accustomed to winning and has helped to maintain UIndy as one of the most successful Division II programs in the country. Paul played a large role in their consistent performance both on and off the court and I am excited for him to bring his passion to our program.”

As a student-athlete, Corsaro played in 58 games over three seasons for UIndy (2009-11). On the football field, Corsaro played both quarterback and defensive back during his career where he earned three letters for the Greyhounds. He recorded 10 rushing and four passing touchdowns during his career. Corsaro graduated with a bachelor’s in communication in 2012 and a master’s in business administration (MBA) in 2014, both from UIndy.
