Rhode Island College Head Coach Tom Glynn Notches 100th Career Win

Rhode Island College Head Men’s Basketball Coach Tom Glynn picked up his 100th career victory as he guided the Anchormen to a 67-57 victory over the University of Saint Joseph (CT) at The Murray Center on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC junior forward Benjamin Vezele (Providence, RI) posted another double-double with 10 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and three blocks.

• Sophomore guard Adham Floyd (Worcester, MA) scored a game-high 22 points and added eight rebounds and three assists.

• Freshman guard Deyshawn Tengbeh (East Providence, RI) narrowly missed a double-double with 18 points, while senior forward Justin Campbell (New Haven, CT) also nearly recorded a double-double with 14 points and nine boards.

• Freshman forward Nadir Dixon-Thompson (Dorchester, MA) paced Saint Joseph with 20 points and 14 rebounds.

• Sophomore forward Mike Sagay (Bloomfield, CT) added 12 points and six rebounds in the setback for the Blue Jays.

• RIC raced out to the early, 15-5, lead after a three-pointer from Floyd with 11:51 left in the first half.

• The Anchormen took their largest lead of the half when a three-pointer from Tengbeh made the score 32-12 with 4:18 left in the stanza.

• RIC took a 39-22 advantage heading into the locker room at halftime after holding the Blue Jays to just 9-of-31 shooting (29.0 percent) from the field and forcing the Blue Jays into 10 first half turnovers.

• Saint Joseph pulled to within three points early in the second half when a three-pointer from freshman guard Ryan O’Neill (Litchfield, CT) put the score at 43-40 with 13:35 left in the contest.

• The Anchormen responded with an 8-0 run and regained the double-digit advantage on a three-pointer from Tengbeh with 11:23 left.

• Saint Joseph cut the lead down to four, 53-49, on a free throw from freshman guard Delshawn Jackson Jr (Hartford, CT), but the Anchormen outscored USJ, 14-8, down the stretch to seal the win.

BY THE NUMBERS
• RIC shot 31.3 percent (25-of-80) from the field, 29.3 percent (12-of-41) from the three-point line and 50.0 percent (5-of-10) from the free throw line.

• USJ shot 39.7 percent (23-of-58) from the field, 33.3 percent (4-of-12) from the three-point line and 58.3 percent (7-of-12) from the free throw line

• RIC outrebounded USJ by a 49-46 margin and forced the Blue Jays into 18 turnovers. The Anchormen only committed eight turnovers in the win.
