Richardson named Head Basketball Coach at D2 Wheeling U.

Charleston native and University of Central Missouri Assistant Chris Richardson was introduced as the 11th Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Wheeling University in a press conference Monday morning. Richardson was listed as a finalist for the job last month by (Daily Dirt – 6/24). He reportedly beat out former Niagara head coach Patrick Beilein for the position.

Richardson had spent five seasons as a full-time assistant at Central Missouri and had been with the program for seven years overall working for two years as a graduate assistant coach. He came to UCM at the start of the 2014-15 season after spending two seasons as the head assistant at Delta State.

The Charleston, W.Va. native is a 2008 graduate of West Virginia University. He earned his master’s degree in Kinesiology from UCM with a concentration in Sport Management.
